Privacy Policy
Phon is designed from the ground up to protect the privacy of your sensitive research data.
Local Processing
All research data processed by Phon resides locally on your computer.
No Transmission
Speech Metrics does not collect, transmit, or store your participant recordings or research data.
Analytics (Opt-In)
Phon includes optional, opt-in product analytics powered by PostHog to help us understand feature usage, diagnose errors, and improve the software.
- Explicit Consent: Users must explicitly consent before any analytics data is collected. If you do not opt-in, no data is sent.
- What We Collect: If you opt-in, we collect anonymous usage events (e.g., application startup) and basic error logs. We never collect or transmit sensitive research data, participant information, transcripts, or audio recordings.
- Data Residency: Users who opt-in can choose to send their anonymous usage data to either US or EU cloud servers, depending on their local data privacy requirements.
- Opt-Out: You can revoke consent and disable analytics at any time via the application preferences, which immediately halts data collection.
Data Sharing and Retention
We do not sell, rent, or share your analytics data with any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Analytics data sent to PostHog is retained only for as long as necessary to analyze application performance and is periodically purged.
Because our analytics data is collected anonymously and cannot be tied to a specific individual or account, we are unable to process targeted deletion requests for usage telemetry.
