Speech Analysis
The Speech Analysis view displays a waveform and spectrogram for the current record's media segment. It opens as a bottom panel below the transcript.
The view shows the following from top to bottom:
- Toolbar — Record navigation, playback, export, spectrum settings, and interval tier controls
- Time ruler — Time axis showing the segment boundaries
- Waveform — Audio waveform display with segment region highlighted
- Spectrogram — Frequency analysis display with configurable settings for formants, intensity, and pitch overlays
Toolbar
The Speech Analysis toolbar provides:
- Record navigation (first, previous, next, last)
- Play segment — Play the current record's media segment
- Export segment — Export the segment as an audio file
- Spectrum — Configure spectrogram display settings including formant, intensity, and pitch overlays. See Spectrogram Settings, Formant Settings, Intensity Settings, and Pitch Settings.
- Interval Tiers — Show or hide TextGrid interval tiers on the spectrogram
Zoom and Navigation
Use the zoom controls in the toolbar to adjust the time scale of the waveform and spectrogram display. The view automatically centers on the current record's segment when navigating between records.
